I have some that popped up in white sugar sand and of course many that are grown in a combination of peat moss and topsoil... as long as the roots don't stay wet for more than a few days at a time, it'll do well.
I've been growing Buddha belly jatropha plants for 30 years so you can take my word.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14401434271201680109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6430940450861096997.post-57887729799753443032016-05-22T00:13:01.409-05:002016-05-22T00:13:01.409-05:00Looking for Jatropha podagrica cv. I leave them on the window seal till they are ready to be planted. When it starts to get it's first real set of leaves, I take it out of the bag and put it in a 3" pot. They don't require much water once they start to grow. The larger the pot, the bigger the plant will get.
The plants can be planted in the ground after four months.

Sending you an email.
